“Service, Sacrifice, and Sustainability"
Located in the historic East Atlanta Community, the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam is the largest and oldest Islamic community in Metro Atlanta. We are a community of believers adhering to the Qur’an and the life traditions of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing Be Upon Him). We are in association with the leadership and vision of Imam W. Deen Mohammed (1933 – 2008, may Allah be pleased with him). Imam Sulaimaan Hamed is the director and Resident Imam of the Masjid. The Atlanta Masjid is blessed to be supported by four generations of Muslims who are fully engaged residents of Georgia and the United States of America. Our community life is expressed through member activities in areas such as education, entrepreneurship, civic involvement, interfaith, and international relations. Our masjid is open for the five daily prayers, Jumuah, and Sunday taleem. We offer classes in Islamic and Arabic studies for children and adults. The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam is a 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization.
The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam mission to remain committed to the Islamic way of life based on the Qur’an and life example of Prophet Muhammad. We are aimed at serving as a center for religious development, social, educational, economic, and cultural enrichment. We believe in the Oneness of G’d and the oneness of humanity. We are committed to promoting excellence in community life and human dignity throughout our neighborhoods, city, country and global community.
Our vision is to create a vibrant faith community that appreciates the inherent worth of every individual. Organized and fully supported by all stakeholders, we operate with the highest level of Shura (consultation). We envision a 21st century Masjid, globally competitive school and a fully-functioning endowment. With the support of our thriving business community, we are positioned for growth and expansion. A state-of-the-art, green and financially solvent community will nurture Islamic culture and business while fulfilling the destiny of a G’d-conscious community.
